This outfit is my second outfit to be made by the amazing Queen Ahneva Ahneva who is a genius when it comes to making stage pieces.IMG_0434 She can take any kind of fabric and make it do things that even the mind would never have dreamed of. Aso-Oke (this particular fabric) is mostly used for traditional Nigerian wrappers and head-ties so to see this beautiful material transformed into a bomber jacket is quite astonishing. I remember the day I saw the jacket just hanging on one of her racks at her home, while I was paying her a visit. She was showing me a whole bunch of other clothes but I was drawn to this magnificence or as she would call it “Wearable Art”.

Her attention to detail is amazing. You almost feel like you wouldn’t mind wearing her clothes inside-out. They are that well finished.

QAA knows that I’m a shorts wearer and initially there wasn’t a matching pair for this jacket but of course she came through for me, majorly!

She also left me a strip of cloth that was left and initially I had no clue what I needed it for but as she predicted, I put that strip to good use. I tied it into a bow and used it on the day of my show

And of course… ACCESSORIES AND SHOES to match!

The other time I wore this outfit was at last year’s food fiesta. I imagine I’ll wear it again!
