Self-management has taught me a lot about independence and confidence but also how to accept help where and when I need it. For this show, a stylist came in handy because I knew I’d need to be present on the red carpet and I wanted to be comfortable. It was important to feel good about how I looked especially because I was going to be on stage shortly after. I needed something that would keep me in high spirits and boost my confidence.
Nicole Asinugo is a seasoned specialist in the fashion and creative industry so it was a pleasure to have her come on as my creative director for this event. Among 4 pieces she pulled, we decided on this amazing jumpsuit by Nuraniya from Zazaii.
It was the perfect, chic look for the red carpet. I felt tall and elegant and it fit like a glove.
Thanks Nicole, Thanks Isoken and thanks Nuraniya for this moment.
My second outfit was of course my performance outfit. A burnt orange/red polka dot suit with a black velvet lapel that I designed myself with material given to me by my Aunty. I love this outfit, I’ve gotten so used to wearing shorts suits on stage and they are the most comfortable thing for me while I play the keyboard.
I wore some very comfy black closed toe heels (bought them in forever 21 – I’m a cheapskate!). Love how they look from this angle. They worked well because we did a little dancing. (stay tuned for the full video of our performance coming soon).
Check out how cool and gorgeous my background vocalists (L-R: Bolu, Gona and Shola) look with their waistcoats, suspenders, ties and that polka dot pocket square (swoon!!) Love these 3 gentlemen to pieces. They are all stars in their own right so it is a huge honor to have them sing with me and make my music sound incredible for this sort of acoustic live set.
After our performance…
